Chem 233 Fall 2012

Hey everyone,

I will be holding lessons this fall. I will be going away Sept 22 for a month because my 4th yr medical electives require me to do some out of province stuff. I don't have exams this winter so I will have a bit more time to do some teaching. Because I am going away intermittently here and there, I will try to push you guys through and teach the entire course in a short period of time. I know school has just started and most of the profs spend a considerable and unneccesary amount of time in the intro/basics/preliminary stuff, but I will move past that and get into the real meat of the subject which will get you prepared when you encounter this stuff a little later in the month when all your courses start to get hectic all at once.

For info about the lessons and what I do, please look at my previous blog posts.

Cost: $30 per person for each 2 hr lesson.

Bring: Pen and paper to take notes.

Location: UBC Vancouver campus libraries

Dates: I will be sending out sporadic emails when I know I will become available and students just reply with an email whether they can make it or not. If enough people can make a session (7-10 students), I will send out an email confirming the location/time and the lesson will take place.

If you're interested in joining, just send me an email: trevor_cf_tsang@hotmail.com

I'll put you on the email list and you'll be in the know of when I am arranging lessons.

Thanks guys and look forward to teaching and meeting you all.

SUMMER 2012 SESSIONS

Hi everyone,

Summer 2012 CHEM 233 classes are approaching starting May 7th.

I will be holding sessions. I repeat. I will be holding sessions.

If you are interested, just send me an email at tsangt@interchange.ubc.ca

Your email will then be added to my mailing list for CHEM 233 lesson updates. When I have enough students interested, I will send out proposed dates and times on when upcoming lessons will be held.
They are held at UBC on campus for everyone's convenience. Regarding timing, this will have to revolve around my schedule as I am very busy with medical rotations. I will either make sessions weekday evenings or usually weekends when everyone is free.

I know there are different types of people. Some people just want a general quick review a week before a midterm or final exam. That's fine, just let me know you prefer this. Some of you will want to have a continuous tutoring program with me so you meet with me every week to make sure you cover everything you learned that week to stay on top of things. The summer session does have a quicker pace, so people usually like to meet more often.

Details: Sessions will be held in groups of 10 students and each session will last 2 hours. I will go over each subject/topic/chapter you cover in your course in detail. Basically, I will run thru everything with you so you recognize all the important points. There will be a focus on how to answer questions and what you should be realizing to score well. I will not waste your time as I do not like to waste my time either. Students bring pen and paper to take copious notes during the sessions. You can also bring your questions you have from home to be addressed when those topics are discussed. I will check with you all what your prof is teaching and what is covered to make sure I only teach you the stuff you need to know. Even if you don't understand much in class, you will understand it once you learn this under me.

Cost: $40 per person for each 2 hour session. (I can usually finish teaching the course in 5-6 sessions just to give you an estimate on what you are willing to spend)

Look forward to teaching you all. Cheers.
